About Me

Hi, my name is Pamela Mullings. I have a CPCAB Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, a Registered Member of BACP, work in accordance with their ethical framework and working towards accreditation.

British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy the main bodies of counsellors over- seeing the accreditation and registration of counsellors in the United Kingdom.

Counselling

As a counsellor I provide clients with a warm, supportive, and non-judgemental therapeutic environment. I work with clients to explore their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, enabling them to gain a clearer understanding of their life experience, identify and use their own resources in sustaining a comfortable life, as well as to find healthier strategies of managing emotions and dealing with stress.

I am flexible, good communicator, with good listening skills, congruent, empathetic, I also understands that it can be difficult to make sense of life events and changes and believes it is important to offer a trustworthy and confidential space for clients to not only embark on a journey of self-exploration and change, but to also gain a feeling of value and self-worth which is important for self-development and growth.

Working as a counsellor I draw from several theoretical approaches, and tailor them to the unique needs of the clients. I work using person-centred models and aim to offer a space which enables clients to safely explore and unpack issues which they choose to work through, at their own pace.

I come from a helping/caring background and have been a long-term carer with experience of working with dementia and bereavement. I have developed an understanding of the challenges and how it can impact the personal areas of an individual’s life. I have an interest in depression and anxiety, family, and relationship issues, life transition and have gained experience in providing clients with a safe and supportive space to explore these challenges.

By learning and understanding myself and how therapy can bring about helpful and positive change within a person’s life, I developed a passion for Counselling.  I have gained experience through training, volunteering, and have built upon the desire to work therapeutically with clients from a range of cultural backgrounds and various walks of life.
